Telangana Government’s One Lakh Double Bedroom Flats At Hyderabad
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi government will construct about one lakh double bedroom flats by year-end in Hyderabad, the tender process for which has been completed, said Municipal Administration Minister K.T. Rama Rao.
DBR housing is a prestigious programme of the State Government, to construct 560 sq ft houses, several incentives and relaxations had been announced for the housing programme, he said. A model township with 15,600 double bedroom flats will come up at Kollur near Tellapur with schools, medical facilities, commercial establishments, police, fire, bus station facilities. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would lay the stone for the township which would house 75,000 people soon.
There are 1,492 notified slums in Hyderabad and the government proposed in-situ development with DBR houses, but only 10,000 houses were being constructed. Remaining houses would come up in greenfield areas and orders were issued to identify and take litigation free lands. Target is to construct one lakh DBR houses in Hyderabad and for these several relaxations like setback, road-width norms, parking areas are given wherever land is available, he said.
On request of steel merchants that price offered by the government for steel was unviable, he said it was giving sand for free, cement at a fixed price of Rs 230/- bag but steel prices had gone up from Rs 32,000/- a tonne to Rs 57,000/- a tonne. After Housing Minister and KTR held meetings with steel manufacturers association, they agreed to supply steel at Rs 37,000/- a tonne.
Member Karne Prabhakar said 7 acres of government land was available in Nagole that could be utilised for DBR scheme. About 1,000 to 2,000 flats, and a municipal park or indoor stadium could be constructed. The Minister said if Nagole land was litigation-free, Mr Prabhakar’s proposal could be considered.
