Tanuku Master Plan has been created for Tanuku as of 2011 census of India; the town had a population of 92,348. Tanuku is a located at 16.75°N 81.7°E with tropical climate an annual rainfall of 313.4 millimeters (31.34 cm). The Gosthani River flows through the town. Tanuku is a town in West Godavari district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Tanuku mandal in Kovvuru revenue division.
Tanuku Municipality was constituted in the year 1979 as a second grade municipality. It was upgraded to first grade in the year 2002 and has 34 election wards. Its jurisdiction is spread over an area of 24.83 km2 (9.59 sq mi). The present municipal chairman is Dommeti Venkata Sudhakar and the municipal commissioner is Amaraiah.
Andhra Sugars Limited supplies liquid hydrogen, a byproduct of sugarcane to the ISRO, for using it as a rocket propellant in satellite launch vehicles. The other byproducts are also used in liquor, paper and power industries.
Vision of Tanuku Master Plan
The objective of the Tanuku Master Plan is to create enabling spatial and land use planning framework to achieve the Vision of Tanuku Master plan in order to promote, guide and rationalize. The future growth and development of the urban centers, it will be critical to define their growth framework. The future growth framework of the urban centers is defined by the Master Plan/Development Plans which are evolved for each settlement at individual level. Tanuku Master Plan has been considered as one of the most effective mechanism to promote planned growth of the urban centers. It lays down the road map, agenda and framework within which the city growth is envisioned. It provides a tool for the authorities to take decision with regard to current and future development related issues.
Tanuku Master Plan provides the framework for rationalizing the orderly movement of traffic and transportation within the city and defines the area for laying down net-work of various services. The plan is used for promoting integrated development of the urban centre by rationalizing its pattern of land use and their interrelationship. It also defines the strategies and solutions for overcoming the existing problems of the urban centers and to overcome its infrastructural and service related inadequacies. In addition, it provides options for accommodating the future addition to population which is likely to come to the urban centre due to natural growth and migration. Master Plan acts as a tool for determining the infrastructure cost which would be required to make the city sustainable. The plans offer futuristic solutions by laying down agenda for its growth and development.
