Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban In 80 Local Bodies Of Haryana
Haryana Urban Local Bodies department with the assistance of Central government is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)-Urban in all 80 local bodies of the state to realise the dream of poor people to have their own house.
Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister said the scheme has four key components – slum rehabilitation of slum dwellers with participation of private developers using land as a resource, promotion of affordable housing for weaker section through credit linked subsidy, affordable housing in partnership and subsidy for beneficiary-led individual house construction or enhancement.
She said under the first component, houses are to be made available to the people living in slums through private participation by using land as a resource for which Rs 1 lakh as central assistance and Rs 67,000 as state government assistance would be provided. Even then, if required, the state government could provide Floor Area Ratio (FAR) or Floor Space Index (FSI) to make the slum rehabilitation projects financially viable.
Under the promotion of affordable housing for weaker section through Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) having annual family income upto Rs 3 lakh and Low Income Group (LIG) having annual family income between Rs 3 lakh to Rs 6 lakh, under Medium Income Group (MIG-1) whose annual family income is between Rs 9 lakh to Rs 12 lakh and Medium Income Group (MIG-2) under which whose annual family income is between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh would be provided interest free loan by banks for construction and purchase of house or house enhancement.
Similarly, under the affordable housing in partnership component, besides central assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh, financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh would be provided by the state government to the beneficiaries of Economical Weaker Section, under the subsidy for beneficiary-led individual house construction or enhancement component, central assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh and Rs 1 lakh by the state government would be provided to the Low Income Group beneficiaries for the construction of new house whereas for the enhancement of current accommodation, central assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh would be provided.
Minister said the Haryana Urban Local Bodies department has completed the survey work concerning the demand of all urban local bodies. She said that application has been received from 3.23 lakh people for the houses, the verification work of which is in progress.
Under the Housing for All scheme, plan of action of 65 towns and detailed action plan (first phase) of 66 towns have been sent for the approval of central government out of which detailed action plan (first phase) of 28 towns have been approved. The department is committed for preparing the Housing for All plan of action and detailed action plan for the remaining 14 towns and send the same for the approval of the central government by February 28, 2018.
