Pimpri Chinchwad To Get 60,000 Affordable Houses Under PPP Model
For the first time, Pimpri Chinchwad will get 60,000 affordable houses will to be built on public-private-partnership (PPP) model in all eight zones of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) by 2022. The project will be carried out under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
A total of 2.5 FSI will be given for the project. The land would have to be privately-owned and have access to good roads, public transport facilities, health care, schools, water and drainage facilities.
The construction agency will have to prepare a detailed project report in consultation with PCMC and get it approved from the state and central appraisal committee. The ministry of housing and urban affairs has issued PPP models for the policy.
PCMC has invited tenders for the project. Joint city engineer told, affordable houses will be built on PPP basis in the twin township. Interested builders will have to make an application to be part of the scheme within a month. The civic body will scrutinize the applications and send it to the state government for further approval. The builder providing maximum number of apartments will be selected.
Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will implement the project. The state has a target of building 19.40 lakh affordable houses by 2022. MHADA units, measuring 322 sq ft, will have facilities like solar-powered water heating system, sewage treatment plant, solid waste management, and rainwater harvesting system.
The prices of 50% tenements constructed on the total available area shall be decided as per MHADA’s prevailing pricing policy. For the rest, the construction company will be allowed to fix prices as per their wish, civic officials said. Currently, PCMC has the capacity to fulfil 10,000 housing units, while the remaining 50,000 tenements would be fulfilled with private landowners.
Last month, the standing committee approved 2,376 affordable houses at Charholi and Ravet under PMAY. PCMC will build 9,458 tenements in Dudulgaon, Borhadewadi, Wadmukhwadi, and Chikhli.
