Manipur Welfare Schemes For TB Patients Announced On World TB Day

Health and Family Welfare Minister announced five welfare schemes for TB patients in Manipur. Speaking during observation of 37th World TB Day at Indian Medical Association (IMA) Hall Lamphelpat, Imphal he said nutritional support for Tuberculosis patients and Rs 500 per month till completion of treatment from April 2018. The government will also pay Rs 1,000 to all the first informers of new TB cases.

A new drug to be used in MDR-TB will be available at free of cost for all the eligible MRD-TB patients. Previously the duration of MDR-TB treatment was for 24 to 27 months. The duration will be shortened to 9-12 months, he added.

The minister appealed to the public to cooperate with the government eradicate TB completely. A rally to spread about TB awareness was also flagged off by the minister.
