Khandwa Master Plan 2031 (Draft) has been created for Khandwa District. Khandwa is a City and a Nagar Nigam in the Khandwa District in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It was formerly known as East Nimar District. As of 2001 India census, Khandwa had a population of 171,986. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. The Narmada forms part of the northern boundary of the district, and the Satpura Range forms the southern boundary of the district.
Burhanpur District, to the south, lies in the basin of the Tapti River. Betul and Harda districts lie to the east, Dewas District to the north, and Khargone District to the west. Khandwa has a major railway junction located on the Jabalpur-Bhusaval section of Howrah-Allahabad-Mumbai line, one of India’s most heavily used railway lines, with daily connections to Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Goa, Cochin, Kolkata, Indore, Bhopal, Patna, Allahabad, Lucknow, Jammu, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. The latitude of Khandwa is 21.825733 and the longitude is 76.352570. It is located between the 21° 49′ 32.6388” N and 76° 21′ 9.2520” E.
Objectives of Khandwa Master Plan 2031
The objective of the Khandwa Master Plan 2031 is to create enabling spatial and land use planning framework to achieve the Vision of Khandwa Master Plan 2031 in order to promote, guide and rationalize. The future growth and development of the urban centres, it will be critical to define their growth framework The future growth framework of the urban centres are defined by the Master Plan/Development Plans which are evolved for each settlement at individual level. Khandwa Master Plan 2031 has been considered as one of the most effective mechanism to promote planned growth of the urban centres. It lays down the road map, agenda and framework within which the city growth is envisioned. It provides a tool for the authorities to take decision with regard to current and future development related issues.
Khandwa Master Plan 2031 provides the framework for rationalizing the orderly movement of traffic and transportation within the city and defines the area for laying down net-work of various services. The plan is used for promoting integrated development of the urban centre by rationalizing its pattern of land use and their interrelationship. It also defines the strategies and solutions for overcoming the existing problems of the urban centres and to overcome its infrastructural and service related inadequacies. In addition, it provides options for accommodating the future addition to population which is likely to come to the urban centre due to natural growth and migration. Master Plan acts as a tool for determining the infrastructure cost which would be required to make the city sustainable. The plans offer futuristic solutions by laying down agenda for its growth and development.
