GMDA Greater Mohali To Launch Mohali Housing Scheme On Baisakhi
A new Mohali housing scheme will be launched by the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) on Baisakhi (April 14). A total of 700 residential freehold plots, measuring 100, 150, 200, 300, 400 and 500 sq yards, will be offered for allotment through the draw of lots at the upcoming IT City, spread across 1,722 acres in Sectors 66-B, 82-A, 83-A and 101-A on the 200-foot-wide road leading to the Chandigarh international airport.
Announcing the launch of the scheme, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Housing and Urban Development-cum-Financial Commissioner, Revenue (FCR), told that the scheme would remain open for a month and the allotment would be made through the draw of lots.
This scheme will offer 30 per cent reservation to applicants of the Scheduled Caste (SC) category as decided by the state Cabinet on March 18, senior citizens and women of all categories, including reserved, would be given preference in the allotment under the scheme.
Even as the rate of allotment is yet to be finalized, it is likely to be anywhere between Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000 per sq yard.
GMADA Chief Administrator said a total of 2,861 residential plots, ranging between 100 and 500 sq yards, had already been allotted in IT City and after the allotment of another 700 plots in the upcoming scheme, only 435 plots would be left, which would be sold through an open auction in the near future.
The first housing scheme in IT City was launched in February 2014, wherein 325 residential plots were allotted and the last scheme was launched in July 2016, wherein 750 plots were allotted.
Three group housing sites have been allotted land through an e-auction in IT City. While the possession of an 11-acre site has already been given, the other two sites, measuring 6 acres and 4.04 acre, are also ready for possession.
