One Of The Biggest MHADA Mumbai Lottery To Take Place Next Month
For homebuyers who thought their dream of owning a house in Mumbai or its nearby areas was going to remain just that a dream, there is good news. The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), the nodal agency for affordable housing, is offering almost 7,300 houses in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) under its biggest MHADA Mumbai lottery scheme.
The lottery process which is expected to begin next month is said to be one of the biggest to be held in the last six to seven years.
The 7,300 houses on offer include about 4,000 houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
About 2,000 houses each are located at Khon near Kalyan, and Shirdhon near Panvel. And at least 3,300 houses have been built at Virar.
Chief officer, Konkan division board of MHADA said, we are currently in the process of finalising the software company for conducting the online lottery. After that, we will be in a position to conduct the lottery in the middle of next month.
The last MHADA lottery on such a large scale took place in 2011 when around 5,000 houses were offered to home buyers.
The lottery always has a heavy response with lakhs of home buyers vying for a few thousand homes as they are cheaper by at least 20 to 25 per cent compared to those sold by private developers.
For the PMAY houses, an ambitious scheme that was launched in 2016, only those belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) will be eligible. And the state will provide an additional subsidy of Rs 2.5 lakh to the buyers of these houses.
