Abu Road Master Plan 2025 has been created for Abu Road City. Abu Road is a city and municipality in Sirohi district of Rajasthan state in western India. The Abu Road city is the biggest city in the Sirohi district. It is the tehsil headquarters of Abu Road Tehsil by that name. It lies southeast of Mount Abu and its railway station is an important stop on the main Indian Railways line between Delhi and Ahmedabad. It is the largest city in Sirohi district in terms of area and is a financial hub too.
Mount Abu is 27 km up the hill from Abu Road. The city being the largest city in Sirohi district is well-connected by road and rail. Abu Road railway station comes under the administrative control of North Western Railway zone of the Indian Railways. It has direct rail links on the broad gauge to the cities of Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Mysore, Puri, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Delhi, Dehradun, Muzaffarpur, Bareilly and Jammu.
It is connected to most of the cities and towns in Gujarat such as Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodra, Bhuj and Porbandar. Thus providing transport facility to Sirohi and Jalor district. National Highway 14 connecting Beawar in Rajasthan with Radhanpur in Gujarat passes through Abu Road, thus connecting it with the cities of Pali, Palanpur. Further, State Highways in Gujarat SH 712, SH 132 pass through Palanpur and connect Abu Road with nearby towns in Gujarat. State Highway SH 41 connects it with Mehsana & Ahmedabad.
Abu Road is well connected via bus; more 150 buses are departure from Abu road to other cities. The nearest Domestic Airport is the Maharana Pratap Airport, Udaipur which is 164 km away and nearest International Airport is the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, and Ahemdabad which is 193 km far. Abu Road is located at 24.48°N 72.78°E. It has an average elevation of 263 m (863 ft).
As of the 2011 India census, Abu Road had a population of 55,595. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Abu Road has an average literacy rate of 80.81%, higher than the state average of 66.11%. 89.63% of the males and 70.97% of females are literate. 11.89% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The objective of the Abu Road Master Plan 2025 is to create enabling spatial and land use planning framework to achieve the Vision of Abu Road Master Plan 2025 in order to promote, guide and rationalize. The future growth and development of the urban centers is defined by the Master Plan/Development Plans which are evolved for each settlement at individual level. Abu Road Master Plan 2025 has been considered as one of the most effective mechanism to promote planned growth of the urban centers. It lays down the road map, agenda and framework within which the city growth is envisioned. It provides a tool for the authorities to take decision with regard to current and future development related issues.
Abu Road Master Plan 2025 provides the framework for rationalizing the orderly movement of traffic and transportation within the city and defines the area for laying down network of various services. The plan is used for promoting integrated development of the urban centre by rationalizing its pattern of land use and their inter-relationship. It also defines the strategies and solutions for overcoming the existing problems of the urban centers and to overcome its infrastructural and service related inadequacies. In addition, it provides options for accommodating the future addition to population which is likely to come to the urban centre due to natural growth and migration. Master Plan acts as a tool for determining the infrastructure cost which would be required to make the city sustainable. The plans offer futuristic solutions by laying down agenda for its growth and development.
