Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Faridabad
From 6th December 2016 the online registration for providing housing benefits to the poor and weaker section of the society under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) has started from Faridabad. The residents of New Janta Colony, Faridabad did online registration to get the PMAY benefits.
All registrations for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Faridabad were done in the presence of the RED Cross society members present for the occasion. Ravi Kashyap, a resident of New Janta Colony, Faridabad, informed that around 50 women registered for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Faridabad. He also said, to be eligible for the scheme, the applicant should not have their own house across the country and should have an Aadhar Card and bank account to fill application form for the scheme.

At the slum decadal growth rate of 34%, the slum households are projected to go upto 18 million. 2 million non-slum urban poor households are proposed to be covered under the Mission. Hence, total housing shortage envisaged to be addressed through the new mission is 20 million.
The Mission is being implemented during 2015-2022 and provides central assistance to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and other implementing agencies through States/UTs for:
- In-situ Rehabilitation of existing slum dwellers using land as a resource through private participation
- Credit Linked Subsidy
- Affordable Housing in Partnership
- Subsidy for beneficiary-led individual house construction/enhancement.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Some Details
The mission will support construction of houses upto 30 square meter carpet area with basic civic infrastructure. States/UTs will have flexibility in terms of determining the size of house and other facilities at the state level in consultation with the Ministry but without any enhanced financial assistance from Centre. Slum redevelopment projects and Affordable Housing projects in partnership should have basic civic infrastructure like water, sanitation, sewerage, road, electricity etc. ULB should ensure that individual houses under credit linked interest subsidy and beneficiary led construction should have provision for these basic civic services.
The houses constructed/acquired with central assistance under the mission should be in the name of the female head of the household or in the joint name of the male head of the household and his wife, and only in cases when there is no adult female member in the family, the house can be in the name of male member of the household.
