Chilakaluripet Master Plan has been created for Chilakaluripet with its population of 101,550 as of 2011 census. Chilakaluripet is a city in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Chilakaluripet mandal in Narasaraopet revenue division.
It is located in the Coastal Andhra region of the state at 16.10°N 80.16°E in the on the Eastern coastal plains. Chilakaluripet is located 41 km (25 mi) south-west of the district headquarters, Guntur, and 78 kilometers (46.5 mi) north of Amaravati (state capital) the city is located in zone 3 as per Earthquake zones of India. Krishna River water from the Nagarjuna Sagar Right Canal is the main source of water for the residents.
Chilakaluripet Municipality was constituted in 1964 as a third grade municipality. It was upgraded to second grade in 1980 and to first grade in 2001. The jurisdiction of the municipality is spread over an area of 18.13 km (11.27 mi) with 34 wards.
Vision of Chilakaluripet Master Plan
The objective of the Chilakaluripet Master Plan is to create enabling spatial and land use planning framework to achieve the Vision of Chilakaluripet Master plan in order to promote, guide and rationalize. The future growth and development of the urban centers, it will be critical to define their growth framework. The future growth framework of the urban centers is defined by the Master Plan/Development Plans which are evolved for each settlement at individual level. Chilakaluripet Master Plan has been considered as one of the most effective mechanism to promote planned growth of the urban centers. It lays down the road map, agenda and framework within which the city growth is envisioned. It provides a tool for the authorities to take decision with regard to current and future development related issues.
Chilakaluripet Master Plan provides the framework for rationalizing the orderly movement of traffic and transportation within the city and defines the area for laying down net-work of various services. The plan is used for promoting integrated development of the urban centre by rationalizing its pattern of land use and their interrelationship. It also defines the strategies and solutions for overcoming the existing problems of the urban centers and to overcome its infrastructural and service related inadequacies. In addition, it provides options for accommodating the future addition to population which is likely to come to the urban centre due to natural growth and migration. Master Plan acts as a tool for determining the infrastructure cost which would be required to make the city sustainable. The plans offer futuristic solutions by laying down agenda for its growth and development.
